Landon Jay- 4 Months 7/19/14

Landon Jay is 4 months old already! Seriously, how is that even possible? I'm a little late to the game- oops! I feel like those first 5 weeks were such a blur and now everything is going so fast that I can't keep up with it! He is such a funny baby and the absolute light in our lives. We constantly ask ourselves, "what was life like prior to Landon?" I feel like we had a good life, but nothing compares to this! To those of you still in the trenches of infertility, please know that I am always praying for you and rooting you on, even if you don't hear from me that much. My heart aches for you and I want so badly for you to be a mommy or a daddy! If you ever need to talk, please know that I am here!!

Now for the stats and four month information about our Bugaboo!

Weight: 16 pounds 5 ounces! He is in the 79th % for his weight. The doctor said he looked good, so that's all I care about.

Height: 24 inches tall! However, he is only in the 30th % for height, which is fairly common I hear.

Miles Traveled: 4,620 miles! We made a couple trips to my parent's house, a trip to Burnsville, a trip to Sturgeon Lake/Carlton, a few trips to Rochester, and a trip to Springfield. I LOVE that he is such a good traveler!

Sleeping: Landon is finally sleeping through the night! I feel like if I say it out loud that I am going to jinx it, but let's hope not. Between three and four months, he transitioned from getting up at 5:00 am, drinking a bottle, and then going back to bed, to sleeping completely through the night. Every morning is a little bit different, but typically he wakes up between 7:00-9:00, for a total of 9-11 hours! I can't tell you how awesome this is because this took him a long time to get to this point. However, I know it can change in a heartbeat, so I am going to appreciate it for what it is right now.

He has been napping pretty well throughout the day. He is up for two hours and then sleeps for 30-60 minutes, up for two hours and then sleeps for 30-60 minutes, and repeats that all day. Every day is a little bit different, but I've noticed that if he naps more during the day, he sleeps more at night... seems opposite of what it should  be, but I won't argue with it :)

Feeding: He eats a 6 ounce bottle when he wakes up, then 4 ounce bottles every three hours, and then a  6 ounce bottle before bed, for a total of 24 ounces a day. I thought we were going to start oatmeal at four months old, but many pediatricians, and the Mayo Clinic, suggest waiting until 5-6 months so their digestive system is fully developed.

Clothing: He is completely in 3-6 month clothes and I love the clothes that he has. He definitely has short legs though, so he could fit in 0-3 month pants/shorts if needed. I just bought a ton of clothes for him for next summer and it is hard to believe that he will be in 18 month clothes then... slow down, time! Some of my favorite clothes he wears are rompers because they are all in one and many of the ones he has are bright colors with cute animals! A few of my favorites are his blue jumper with the polar bear and a white onesie underneath it... his white romper with yellow and blue stripes... his onesie with a blue bow tie, shorts, and a little cardigan sweater...a lime green and blue alligator romper with a lime green onesie... and his baseball romper :)

Diaper Size: 2- Huggies and Pampers, but mainly Pampers

Looks: Everyone says he looks just like me when I was a baby and I totally see it. However, at the same time, I think he looks just like my husband, too. Therefore, he must have an even mix of both of us, which is fun. He definitely has Cory's ears, a mix of our eyes, my round head, my toes, Cory's hands, and Cory's tiny legs. He has a little red mark on the back of his neck by his hair line, so I'm not sure if that is a birth mark or still newborn skin... who knows! One thing I will say is that his nails grow like crazy and I hate clipping them because I'm afraid I'm going to hurt him :( He changes on a daily basis, so who knows what he will look like next month!

Nicknames: Bugaboo, Bubs, cuddle bug, babycakes, snookums, half-pint, little fish, beezie, peanut, baby Landon.

Likes: A new thing for Landon this month was swimming. Since he loves bath time, we thought we would take him to the YMCA to see how it goes and it has been great! He loves to splash, watch the other kids, and float (obviously with us holding him) on top of the water. He also loves bath time, playing on his activity mat, sitting in his Bumbo like a big boy, jumping in his rainforest jumper, watching the fan, going for walks, car rides, shoving his fists in his mouth, and playing with his new kicking toy. He loves to kick, so I found this toy at an online garage sale for $8 and he LOVES it. It plays music when he touches the toys and kicks his feet, so he thinks it is the greatest thing ever!

Dislikes: Being overly tired and tummy time after about 5-7 minutes. He isn't a huge fan of getting out of the bath tub, but I don't blame him because the air is cold!

Personality: His personality is really starting to shine! We are so blessed to have such a happy-go-lucky baby who smiles all the time! Honestly, he loves to smile at you, flirt with the ladies (especially my future sister in-law), giggles when you blow on his tummy, and smiles when he sees a fan. I wish the innocence of a child could be in all of us because life would be so much better that way!

One thing that is super cute is when you walk into his room in the morning he gives you the biggest smile you've ever seen! Honestly, if you are having a rough morning or overwhelmed, he will just flash you the brightest smile and all of your worries will go away- it is so precious!

Randoms:
  • He has two TEETH right now! He cut his first one on his four month birthday- July 19th- and then he cut his second one on July 24th! It seems hard to believe that he has two teeth already because I feel like he is way too young for this!
  • Landon got to go to his first wedding, of many, on July 26th! He did so well during church and at dinner. He was able to dance with me for a little bit, but then he got to spend a lot of time with his grandma B and Papa T! (oops, I suppose this was after he turned four months, but oh well ;)
  • He is following all of our movements and beginning to reach for different toys. He absolutely LOVES his bumblebee and orange rattle (we named Ellie) from on his car seat! He will grab Ellie and bat at her all day, it is pretty sweet. Thank goodness for fun car toys!
Well, now I'll leave you with some pictures:
Hanging out at his cousin, Patrick's, baseball playoff game :) Rocking the shades!
Landon's first wedding!
Landon and Aubrielle have a new playmate- Avery John!
Landon LOVES swimming!
Bumbo + Ellie = Heaven!
My little ham ball :)
The outfit is a bit big, but I LOVE it!
See how smiley he is in the morning?
Don't even think about touching his bumblebee ;)
:)

Until next time friends... God bless

Landon Jay- 3 Months 6/19/14

Wow! I am very late in getting to Landon's three month post, but time is flying by and I don't feel like I have time to sit down at the computer to write! However, I better write things down or I am going to forget! Here goes it!

Weight: We don't have an exact measurement, since he didn't have a 3 month check-up, but my guess is around 14 1/2 pounds or so. He is getting to be a chunky baby!

Height: My guess is 23 1/2 inches, but once again, this is just a guess.

Miles Traveled: 3,230 miles! We made a couple trips to my parent's house, a trip to Albert Lea, a trip to Rochester, a trip to Mankato, a trip to Duluth, and a trip to Mason City!

Sleeping: This is finally getting much better! Typically Landon will have a bottle right before bed and then sleep from 9:30-4:30. Then, he'll get up to eat/ have his diaper changed, and then go back to sleep from 5:00-7:30 or so. Every night is a little different, but this is somewhat how it goes. Before 3 months, I struggled getting Landon to take naps because he never really seemed tired. Well, I started reading a few sleep articles to learn about signs for when babies are tired. I also read that at 3 months, babies should only be awake for 2 hour intervals, so Landon needed to get more sleep. Once I could pick up on his tired signs, I was able to get him to sleep more. Right now he is usually awake for 2 hours and then he sleeps for 40 minutes, awake for 2 hours, sleeps for 40 minutes. They aren't great naps, but at least he is sleeping more.

Feeding: He is eating between 4 and 5 ounces every 3 hours. Sometimes he can go for longer stretches, but that's only if he is sleeping. He LOVES his food :)

Clothing: He is growing so much and currently wears 3-6 month clothing. He has a few 0-3 month onesies that fit, but the majority of his clothes are 3-6 month. He has a chubby stomach and short legs, so every outfit is a little different in regards to how it fits him.

Diaper Changes/Sizes: Size 2. He doesn't really mind getting his diaper changed anymore.

Looks: I think he looks more and more like me. He has the most perfectly shaped round head and little rolls on his wrists and thighs. Seriously, I could just eat him up sometimes! He still has his bright blue eyes and his hair changes from blonde, to brown, to a hint of red. I'm really curious to see what color hair he has. He has a bigger tummy, short legs, and some rolls that I love!

Nicknames: Bugaboo, snookums, half-pint, beezie, peanut, baby Landon.

Likes:His hands, any kind of music, the swing, going for walks, rocking out in his activity rocker, sometimes tummy time, laying on his activity mat and watching the mobile, BATH TIME and more bath time, and being cuddled! I must say that bath time is an absolute joy with him. He splashes and kicks so much that I am usually soaked by the end of it. He loves to be in water, so I hope he is a swimmer someday.

Dislikes: Being naked, getting out of the bath, sometimes take his clothes off (if they are more form fitting), sometimes tummy time, and getting out of the bath tub.

Personality: He is an absolute ham ball! Seriously, I know I am biased, but I have never met a happier baby who smiles non-stop. Whether we are outside walking, sitting inside reading a book, he is swinging in his swing... he is always smiling. He has started to find his voice and he makes the cutest squeals and such sweet coos. He is definitely my child by the amount that he smiles and "talks!" I post pictures on Facebook and everyone asks me if he is ever crabby, and honestly, he isn't a crabby baby. Yes, if he is overtired or hungry, then he will fuss, but even that isn't that bad. I'm not saying things are perfect, but he is definitely a happy baby and he makes life so much fun! As much as I love watching him grow and learn new things, I am sad at the same time because that means he is getting too big!

Randoms: We did have to take Landon to the doctor on June 2nd because we thought he had an ear infection or some type of cold. He was really fussy, wouldn't eat much, had green gunk in his nose, and just didn't seem like himself. The doctor said his ears looked good, but he told us to give him Tylenol and use this boogie mist for his nose. It wasn't the easiest, but it did work out and it only took him a few days to get better.

My brother got enjoyed to his fiance, Laura, so we are all very excited! Landon is going to be the ring bearer and I think he will look so cute in a tux! They are getting married July 18th, 2015, so this mama has to get losing weight... let the walking and swimming begin!

I've been able to be home all summer with Landon, since teachers have the summer off, and it has been really nice! We've been able to go on multiple walks a day, hang outside, play, play, and more play, shop, and just hang out. I feel so blessed I can be with him for the first 5 months of his life. Although I know daycare is a good thing and he will learn so much, I'm sad at the thought of him going there at the end of August :( Oh well, at least I can soak up this summer with him.

Well, here are some pictures:

Morning cuddles and smirks are my favorite!
Celebrating Kyle and Laura's engagement... he was less than amused with his tuxedo onesie!
Chewing on his hands and telling me a story!
He LOVES his Fisher Price jumparoo!
Rocking out in his Fisher Price rocker!
Tummy time fun! I love his smirk!
Such a trooper while we shopped for 8 hours to help Carrie with her wedding plans!
Until next time... God bless!

Landon's Birth Story... FINALLY!

In case you didn't see it in my other posts, I am going to make my blog private. Although I don't want to, for the safety of our little guy, I need to.  There are too many creeps out in this world, so if you want me to add you to the list, PLEASE comment with your e-mail address and I will add you to the list.  I am new at this, so it may take me a while, but that is the plan!

Man! I sure wish I would've written this right after he was born because I feel like I am missing bits and pieces... oh well! I am absolutely head over heels in love with this little person that my husband and I created. Although he has been here for eleven weeks already (that went WAY too fast), it still doesn't feel real, like we are just playing house. I could sit and stare at him all day because every time I do, I notice something different about him. I'm sure it will just be a jumbled mess, and I can't guarantee I remember everything, but here goes it!

On March 14th, I went into Labor and Delivery (L&D) to get checked out because my feet were extremely swollen and my blood pressure was getting higher than it already had been. Prior to this day, I had normal blood pressure, no swelling, no protein in the urine, nothing... I had a healthy pregnancy. The L&D doctor was going to admit me to the hospital because I had protein in my urine and high blood pressure, but he said I was the best incubator for the baby and he thought it would be okay for me to wait until my appointment with my doctor on Monday- I was nervous, but I had to trust him. He told me to have the car seat in the car (silly, doctor... it had been in there for weeks :) and he told me to bring my clothes to the appointment because more than like I wasn't going to go home. Cue freak out! I stayed in the recliner all weekend and did very little movement because I didn't want to risk anything.

On March 17th, I went to meet with Dr. Thorn and his response to the protein in my urine and high blood pressure was, "You've been through too much to risk anything, so let's have a baby!" He said that since I wasn't dilated and only 37.4 weeks, it was going to be a long 24-48 hours... I thought he was kidding! This was me heading to the hospital:
It was St. Patrick's Day, hence the green! I was SO excited, but little did I know that I was in for the ride of a lifetime!
Once we got checked into L&D, they hooked me up to monitors, did some blood work, and gave me Cervidil to help soften my cervix. My doctor said I was completely closed and tight, so it was going to be a long 48 hours. I kept telling them that there was no way I would be there that long and I was ready to get the "show on the road!" Ha. Ha. Ha. I was clueless! After 8 hours of Cervidil, my cervix was still completely closed and tight, even though the Cervidil should've softened my cervix. I did 4 more hours of Cervidil, but to no avail... In addition, this medicine was causing me to have contractions, that I shouldn't have been having, so I was in excruciating pain with no real purpose! Here is what hung out of me:
Gross!
A new doctor came in and said he was going to give me a Foley catheter to soften the cervix and help me dilate.  The catheters goal was to get my dilated to a 3, so I was excited! The process of inserting the catheter into my cervix was awful! Imagine a tube going into your cervix and then a balloon filled with saline and then the balloon expands and a tube hangs out of your crotch...
AWFUL!
After 8 hours, I was SO excited because I knew I was getting closer to meeting Baby J and being done with the labor process! When they pulled the catheter out, it was not fun, but I didn't care because I was ready for my baby! Unfortunately, the catheter did nothing for me, so I had to do another 8 hours of it. I was not a happy camper.  After 4 hours, the catheter fell out on its own, which got me excited because I thought I'd be dialated to a 3 or 4... nope.

At this point I was ready to quit. It had been 24 hours and I wasn't getting anywhere. I tried to remain positive:
I was in SO much pain!
The doctor decided to give me Pitocin and after 6-8 hours (can't remember exactly), I was dilated to a one. THIRTY hours and I was only a one! The doctor said I should've been at least to a five, so he was worried this wasn't going to progress. I kept trying to be positive, but it was really hard to do so. With the catheter and Pitocin, I was having contractions every 2 minutes and they would last for 30 seconds. Cory was so helpful, and he tried to help me with them, but nothing was helping!

After 4 hours of Pitocin, the doctor broke my water (crazy weird feeling) and told me I had 24 hours to get fully dilated or I would need a c-section. I was determined to get things moving, so I upped my walking...
Just walking the halls... trying to stay positive!
My contractions started coming every 2 minutes and they lasted for 70-80 seconds.  I don't think I've ever been in so much pain! They weren't able to give me an epidural, since I wasn't dilated enough, so it was hell! After 4 hours of this, I was so angry! Why couldn't my body do what it was supposed to do? The doctor gave me a pain medication (can't remember the name) which made me feel like I was a drunk pirate. It was the BEST feeling in the world and Cory got some funny videos of me explaining that we should get rid of alcohol and everyone should take this pill because they wouldn't have hangovers... I think I was losing it. By this point it had been 38 hours. I was able to sleep with this medication, so when I woke up, I was at 40 hours and only dilated to a 3. FORTY hours and only a 3! I kept going and pushed through the contractions, which lasted for hours, but by now, it had been 42 hours and I was so exhausted. The doctor came in and explained that she didn't think I was going to make it to a 10 because my body wasn't progressing and they couldn't give me anything else. They had given me everything they could to get me going, but my body rejected everything, I was devastated.
Can you tell I was ready to be done?!
Once thing I haven't mentioned is that at this point, it was determined that MY doctor, the doctor who had been with us from the beginning, the doctor who had been our hope, the doctor who helped restore my Faith, wasn't going to be able to perform either the c-section or the delivery because he wasn't on call. Therefore, not only was I angry it had been 42 hours and I was only dilated to a 3, but I was now sad our doctor wouldn't be there for us. I continued to fight and walk, in hopes I would dilate more, but nothing was happening.  I pleaded with the on-call doctor to tell me what to do and she said if it were her, she would do the c-section, but she understood my hesitation. She said I had 12 hours left until I would need a c-section because I couldn't risk an infection with me or the baby. I asked her to leave and to give me time to come to terms with whatever decision was best for us.

I remember crying. No, sobbing. I didn't want a c-section because I had fought so so so hard. I had tried everything in my power to have this baby naturally, but my body couldn't do the one thing it was supposed to do.  I remember clinging to Cory and just crying. He was crying. We were both so disappointed in what was going on, but he remained positive. He said that ultimately we just want a healthy baby, and if it meant Baby J came by c-section, then that's what it had to be. I agreed, but I was so sad. Well, at noon, on March 19th, after 44 hours of hard, painful labor, I made the decision to have a c-section.  This decision was not made lightly, but I had to do what was best for our family.  I didn't want to wait another 12 hours and end up having an emergency c-section, so at noon, it was go time. One thing that also helped with my decision was that my doctor, Dr. Thorn, cancelled all of his appointments for the afternoon so he could assist with the c-section! Do you see why I love this man so much? Seriously, he is amazing! I felt so relieved he was going to be there and all of my worries went away! Thank you GOD for this man and his impact in our lives! I meant to get a picture with Dr. Thorn and our baby after birth, but I forgot, so here they are fours weeks later:
Cory got dressed and I had the nurse french braid my hair since I looked like crap and I wanted to look somewhat decent after we met our baby! The nurse just laughed at me and said she had never done this for someone. At 1:00, we headed down to the operating room. Cory had to stay out until my spinal block was inserted and I was ready to go. The spinal block took a long time, but once it worked, it was the coolest feeling ever

They started cauterizing my stomach and that was weird because I could smell something hot, yet I couldn't feel anything. As they opened me up, Cory came in and started taking pictures/videos.  (Those pictures are all on the regular camera, so I don't have any right now). At 2:00 p.m. Landon Jay Jakubek was born and it was the most beautiful feeling ever! I cry thinking and reliving it right now! As they pulled him out, they said, "It's a boy" and I started crying! The minute I heard him cry I started sobbing! I couldn't believe our little miracle, our Baby J, our SON was HERE, on this earth, healthy, and ready to meet his mommy and daddy! He was 6 pounds, 10 ounces, and 19 inches long!

They brought him right over to me and I was able to see his bright eyes and kiss his sweet cheeks.  This is something I was super bummed about with a c-section (not being able to hold him), but having him next to me was worth it.  Then they took him to get cleaned up and Cory was able to be by him the entire time.  After they got him measured and cleaned, we had about twenty minutes together as a family and it was wonderful.  He was the most alert baby I've ever seen, with the brightest eyes ever. After those twenty minutes, they wheeled him away with Cory and the doctors took care of me.
Bright eyes!
At one point, as they were stapling me up, I started to hyperventilate because I couldn't really breathe, so I started throwing up. Thankfully they were right there with a bucket and I threw up in that. They used 12 staples and then they put a wound vac over the incision to prevent any infection.  The wound vac was annoying because I had to bring it with me where I went and it was a little painful, but it did prevent an infection, so it was worth it.  Here is what it looked like:
The white part is what was glued over my incision and then I carried the machine with me- Cory called it my jump starter!
After I was all stapled up, they brought me to the recovery room and I was exhausted. Although I wanted to see my baby right away and be with Cory, I needed that hour to lay down and try to sleep.

So, there you have it! After 2 rounds of Cervidil, 2 rounds of the Foley catheter, 2 rounds of Pitocin,1 water breaking, and 44 hours of labor, Baby J was born and become Landon Jay! Thank you for your continued prayers as we embark on this journey in parenthood. I continue to pray for those of you struggling with infertility because my heart hurts! It isn't fair that this has to happen to any of us, but please know that I will be your prayer warrior and keep fighting for you, even when you don't feel like you can fight anymore.
Cuddling with him, hours after he was born!

Thank you all and God bless you, friends!

Landon Jay- Two Months 5/19

In case you didn't see it in my other posts, I am going to make my blog private. Although I don't want to, for the safety of our little guy, I need to.  There are too many creeps out in this world, so if you want me to add you to the list, PLEASE comment with your e-mail address and I will add you to the list.  I am new at this, so it may take me a while, but that is the plan!

My little Bugaboo at two months old!

Weight: 12 lbs 4 oz- He totally skyrocketed this month and is filling out nicely!

Height: 22 inches
Miles Traveled: We thought it would be fun to see how many miles Landon has traveled since he was born because we have been on the go, go go ever since! Since our best friends and family live 2-5 hours away, we knew Landon was going to be a traveler. Thankfully, he LOVES his car seat and traveling! I have taken him on a few overnight trips to my parents/grandparents by myself, and although it went well, it is easier to have my hubby in the car with me.  In his first two months, Landon has traveled 2,150 miles and those are just trip miles, not miles to my work, the grocery store, Target (which I'm obsessed with), etc... wow! We went to my doctor's office three times, my grandparent's house twice, my parent's house three times, Rochester for an appointment with my grandma, Mankato to meet my grandma and aunt for lunch, and a few other small trips.  I hope I can keep track of his miles, but we'll see!

Sleeping: He will sleep for 30 minutes in his crib around 9:00 and then again around noon, but 30 minutes is pushing it. If I held him in my arms, he could sleep for hours... little stinker. He sleeps around 3.5-4 hours at a time at night because he is a hungry little guy!

Feeding: Around 6 weeks, Landon was miserable. He was constipated and gassy, throwing up, and crying a lot with a rash on his face, so we took him to the doctor because I had a feeling it was his formula.  Well, lo and behold, Landon has to be on Enfamil Nutramigen formula because he is allergic to dairy. Once he started this formula, he was a new baby and felt SO much better! Unfortunately, the formula is outrageously expensive, $36/can, to be exact, and it only lasts 4 days right now. This has been a big adjustment for us, financially, but it is worth it because he feels much better!

Clothing: 0-3 month and some 3-6 month! He has skinny arms and legs, so some of the clothes don't fit quite right.

Diaper Changes/Sizes: Size 1. He still doesn't appreciate getting his diaper changed, but if we talk and sing to him, it is a little bit better.

Looks: He has dark blue eyes, but his hair looks brown with a hint of red in it. He used to look so much like his daddy, but everyone says he looks like me now, so I need to pull out the baby books and really look at them. Regardless, he definitely has both of our features and I think he is beautiful, but I am biased!

Nicknames: Bugaboo, snookums, half-pint, and peanut!

Likes: MUSIC, activity play mat, Fisher Price vibrating rocker, car seat, walks, riding in the car, snuggling, and baths.

Dislikes: Same as last month- diaper changes, being naked, and getting his clothes changed- I am glad he is a modest baby!
Personality: His personality is coming through and it is SO much fun! He found his smile at 7 weeks (5/14) and ever since then he has been cheesing it up.  He also found his hands and tongue at 8 weeks, so he sticks his tongue out just a little ways and then smiles, which makes me smile. I keep telling him that he can't stick his tongue out when he is older, but for now it is cute :) I think he is going to be an easy going baby, but he will be a talker, since I talk to him non-stop!
Here are a few pictures:
Rocking out in his shades!
First date night since Landon was born- thanks mom and Tom!
Telling me a story- look at the hand movements!

Landon was baptized on Mother's Day <3
Landon's great-grandma made this gown and then all of the cousins wore it! On the skirt inside the gown, the baby's name, birthday, and baptismal date was embroidered by each new mama- what an experience!
Hanging out in his rocker!
Loving those dark blue baby blues!
Sleeping through mommy's student's baseball game!
Smiley boy!

Landon Jay- One Month Old 4/19

In case you didn't see it in my other post, I am going to make my blog private from here on out. Although I don't want to do this, for the safety of our little guy, I need to.  There are too many creeps out in this world, so if you want me to add you to the list, PLEASE comment with your e-mail address and I will add you to the list.  I am new at this, so it may take me a while, but that is the plan!

I wanted to take official "One Month" photos, but with the death of my grandpa and his funeral on Landon's one month birthday, it just didn't work out. Plus, in all honesty, I was so exhausted the first month and I was happy I made this collage.  I copied this from the blog, "Life as I Know it" so thank you in advance!

I can't remember everything from one month, but these are my best guesses!

Weight: 8 lbs 10 oz

Height: 20 inches

Miles Traveled: Started keeping track at 2 months.

Sleeping: Landon is a great napper when he is in someone's arms.  Since we travel so much, we are with our family/friends a lot, so he is always being held and loved by people. He sleeps in 2.5hour increments (since that is when he eats) at night and naps quite a bit, so that makes things nice. I try to sleep when he sleeps, but it always seems like there is something to do.

Feeding: I really wanted to breastfeed him/pump and bottle feed, but unfortunately, my milk supply never really came in. I gave it a good month, but I was only producing 1/2 an ounce when I would pump for 30 minutes from both sides, so I stopped.  We had him on Similac Complete Nutrition, but that made him super constipated, so we switched to Gerber Good Start Gentle. This was the trick for a while... He started out eating 2 ounces every two hours and gradually moved to 2.5 ounces and then 3 ounces by the end of the month.

Clothing: Newborn! I NEVER would've guessed he would be in newborn clothes, since our doctor predicted him to be a big baby, but newborn clothes are so fun! My step-dad went to Once Upon a Child and purchased a bunch of newborn sleepers for us, so that was fun because it made him seem smaller for a longer amount of time.

Diaper Changes: Newborn! We had to purchase newborn diapers because I exchanged the newborn diapers we did receive because I didn't think we would ever need them... I was wrong :)

Looks: Blue eyes and light brownish/blonde hair. Sometimes I think he has a hint of red in his hair, but it is hard to tell.  He definitely looks like his daddy with his big eyes and teeny ears, but I think he has my nose! He has the cutest dimple and I can't wait for him to show it off when he smiles.

Nicknames: Half-pint, peanut, snookums, buddy... these are the main nicknames for now.

Likes: MUSIC, his car seat, walks in his stroller/car seat, riding in the car, snuggling, and baths, once we figured out we needed warmer water!

Dislikes: Diaper changes, being naked, and getting his clothes changed- I am glad he is a modest baby!

Personality: He is a pretty easy baby. He had a hard time with the Similac Complete Nutrition formula because it made him super constipated and gassy, but once we switched that, things seemed to be a little bit better, but still not great.  He loves to look at the lights and is completely fine just hanging out and listening to people talk to him.  He loves people and is my little buddy!

Here are a few pictures:
I LOVE bath time!

Coming home from the hospital... this outfit was a bit too big!

Waiting in line for the Easter bunny... I wasn't impressed :)
I can't believe we are on to month two... God bless!

Update and Password Protection

Honestly, I had EVERY intention to update on Landon and how things have been going, but somehow, the time just flies by and I don't have time write. Every time I would sit down to write, something else needed my attention... ahh the life :) However, now that I am back to work (for two weeks until summer vacation), I figured I better sit down and write about Landon so I have it for his baby book!

Landon has been an absolute blessing in our lives! I never truly knew I could love someone SO much, but I do! Every little thing he does I catch myself saying, "Oh, that is my favorite thing," yet I say it for everything :) I am still in absolute awe that our little miracle, the miracle God had planned for us, is sleeping in his crib, laying in our arms, smiling at us, crying his heart out because he is hungry, swinging in his swing, cooing at the lights, etc- I just don't know if it has truly hit us... wow!

I won't lie... the first two weeks were very tough on me because of my incision. Since I ended up have a c-section, I wasn't able to get out of a chair by myself and I couldn't lift anything more than Landon.  I had AMAZING help for those two weeks, thanks to my husband, mom, and dad, but it was still so tough to rely on other people to get up out of the chair. Regardless, I am EXTREMELY thankful for their help and I know the first two weeks wouldn't have gone as well if it weren't for them!

The end of the first month was also tough because my grandpa (the creator of the bumblebee nickname), passed away. Thankfully he was able to meet Landon, hold him, and talk to him, but it was really tough to lose him. I know he is in a beautiful place and I am thankful God gave us the opportunity for Landon to meet his great grandpa Gene, but it brings tears to my eyes to know Landon won't have memories with him in the future. One thing that I am still amazed at is the timing of how things worked out. Although I never want to go through another miscarriage again, those miscarriages brought us our Landon, our miracle. They brought us Landon during some of the darkest times with my family as we watched my grandpa die.  My grandpa was told he only had a few months left to live (in October), yet he held on until Landon was born on March 19th- he was determined to meet his great-grandson.  Landon came two weeks early, which allowed my grandpa to meet him when he was doing well and not too sick (Landon met him when he was 10 days old due to my c-section and not being able to travel)... 1.5 weeks after he met Landon, he went downhill and could no longer really talk, sit up, hold things, etc... God really does have a plan.

I probably take about 5 pictures a day (the first few weeks I took about 10-15/day), so I have WAY too many to share! If you are interested in seeing pictures of our little bugaboo more frequently, just follow me on Instagram- katiejeanne26 and I'll try to be better at posting pictures. If you are friends with my in real-life, I'm sure you've seen the hundreds of pictures on Facebook- oops. If you've been following our journey for a long time and would like to add me on Facebook, search for Katie Jakubek, but make sure to message me about why you are adding me.

Also, I am going to make my blog private from here on out. Although I don't want to do this, for the safety of our little guy, I need to.  There are too many creeps out in this world, so if you want me to add you to the list, PLEASE comment with your e-mail address and I will add you to the list.  I am new at this, so it may take me a while, but that is the plan!

I am going to work on his one month and two month posts now, so check them out later! Have a GREAT day, friends, and thank you for your continued support!

God bless!
